Somos una organización sin ánimo de lucro que agremia a historiadores(as) colombianos(as) y extranjeros(as) con el objetivo de fortalecer el ejercicio profesional de la historia en Colombia.

Historia
Nos constituimos como asociación en el marco del VI Congreso Colombiano de Historia realizado en la ciudad de Ibagué (Tolima, Colombia) en el año 1987. Para esta época el país contaba con un fortalecimiento de la disciplina gracias a la aparición de programas de postgrado que reforzaron los preparados existentes, así como por publicaciones del tipo «Manual de Historia» (1978), cuyo editor científico fue Jaime Jaramillo Uribe.
A la Asociación Colombiana de Historiadores (ACH), la impulsaron historiadores como Jorge Orlando Melo, Germán Colmenares, Carlos Miguel Ortiz y Jesús Antonio Bejarano, entre otros, como Bernardo Tovar, quien asumió inicialmente el liderazgo en el Congreso de Ibagué y fue su primer presidente. Así mismo dio pasos para su institucionalización con el nombre de Sociedad Colombiana de Historiadores. Finalmente, se obtuvo la personería jurídica con el nombre actual durante la presidencia de Mauricio Archila el 25 de septiembre de 1991.
Misión
Fomentar el ejercicio de la profesión del historiador en Colombia por medio de la práctica y divulgación de investigaciones fundamentadas en métodos para la generación de conocimientos con perspectiva crítica del pasado, que contribuya a pensar problemas del presente y la construcción del futuro de comunidades locales, nacionales e internacionales; en interacción colaborativa con otras disciplinas, saberes y profesiones para la solución de problemas de interés general, la protección de la memoria, el patrimonio histórico y sus diversas manifestaciones sociales y culturales; así como incentivar la enseñanza de la historia regional, nacional y mundial, en sus diferentes periodos y en todos los niveles de formación.
Visión
Ser una sólida organización profesional y académica que participa en el fomento de la producción y divulgación de la investigación histórica, en la generación de políticas públicas, en la construcción de una conciencia social sobre el papel del conocimiento del pasado en la recuperación de experiencias significativas para la solución de los grandes problemas del presente, en la construcción de un futuro deseable para las sociedades locales, nacionales, latinoamericanas y en general de toda la humanidad.
Objetivos
La Asociación Colombiana de Historiadores es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro que tiene como objetivos
Objetivo No. 1
Impulsar y promover el desarrollo de la investigación histórica en Colombia.
Objetivo No. 2
Pugnar por la defensa de la profesión de Historiador en Colombia, la difusión libre de sus teorías, pensamientos o resultados investigativos y el apoyo a su integridad y derechos profesionales.
Objetivo No. 3
Propender por el rescate, la conservación, organización y puesta al servicio público indiscriminado de las fuentes históricas, archivos, monumentos, museos y toda forma expresiva del patrimonio cultural o memoria histórica del pueblo colombiano.
Objetivo No. 4
Trabajar por la superación pedagógica y científica de la didáctica histórica y por un reforzamiento general de la enseñanza de la historia en todos los niveles de la educación nacional.
